The Indian Concrete Institute is proposed to form one Technical
Committee each on “Industrial Flooring” and on “Guidelines for Specifying
Durability.
The technical committee on industrial flooring is will compile the
knowledge available from literature, practitioners and case studies, Formulate
guidelines for different types of applications, and compile a handbook of
requirements, tests and specifications on concrete flooring; to organize
seminars to disseminate knowledge on Industrial Flooring and impart training in execution of concrete
flooring.
ICI secretary general R Radhakrishnan said in an email communication to all
members that Prof. Ravindra Gettu from IIT Madras will chair the Committee while
Er. Ganesh Chaudhari of Bekaert Industries will be the Co-Chairman.
On the other hand the objective of the Technical Committee on ‘Guidelines for
Specifying Durability’ will evolve guideline document on Concrete Durability
for Practicing Engineers, Architects, Builders, Consulting Engineers etc. with
a view to provide them guidance on specifying the durability-related and
suitability-centric provisions of concrete in actual practice.
This Committee will be chaired by Er. Vijay Kulkarni and co-chaired by Prof.
Manusanthanam, IIT Madras, the communiqué said.
ICI Members, who can contribute towards the cause of this
Committee are invited to join. The mail asked members who are interested
to be part of the panel to send their bio-data explaining how they can
contribute to these Committees. Members will be selected based on their
merit by the Chairman of the Committee. Mails with a covering letter can be
