LIC HFL opens mega property fair ‘Ungal Illam 2014’ in Chennai

Chennai: A three-day property fair 'Ungal Illam 2014' was thrown open to public at Chennai TradeCentre in Nandambakkam on Friday with more than 90 leading builders showcasing 300 and more properties.

The 17th edition of the property fair was inaugurated in the morning by Sunita Sharma, Managing Director and CEO of LIC Housing Finance Limited (LIC HFL), the organizer of the event, by lighting a traditional lamp.

Speaking after inaugurating the event, Sunitha Sharma said, “Over the last 16 years, the exhibition has evolved to become the most sought after property event in the city.” She also recalled that in 1997, when the event began only 17 builders took part and that has now become 70 builders, which itself is a testimony to the patronage the event has been enjoying from builders and public over the years.

The property event is showcasing over 300 projects from 90 leadingbuilders. “We are expecting about 15,000 footfalls this year”, A Nawaz Hussain, Director of South India Shelters Pvt Ltd, the title sponsor of the event, told this writer.

He said, Chennai property market is witnessing upswing for the last few years though market sentiment is negative throughout the country. The property fair “Ungal Illam 2014” is a perfect platform for property buyers to choose from the wide range of properties – from residential plots to independent villas to apartments. “We have homes for all segments – from middle class to luxury high end apartments,” he said.

“To facilitate customers to get information on loan eligibility and other details, LIC HFL is offering spot sanction of loans “, Sunita Sharma said.

LIC HFL officials are also providing guidance regarding technical aspects and loan eligibility which will help buyers make informed decisions. During the event, a special concessional processing fee of Rs 5,000 plus taxes per loan will also be offered, she said.

Some of the gold sponsors of the event are Navin’s, RCC, Dugar housing limited, Ruby, Mahidhara projects, Arun Excello, Amarprakash and Hallmark, while silver sponsors are Real Value, Rajkham, Pace Builders, Optima and VijayShanthi builders.

Zonal manager of LIC Southern Zone, T Sitharthan and regional manager (southern region) M K Karuppaiah were among others present.

The property fair concludes on (Sunday) 14th September.
