Eurovia acquires Chennai-based NAPC


Chennai: French construction major Eurovia of VINCI group has announced acquisition of Chennai-based construction and public works company NAPC Limited, in an undisclosed takeover deal.

With this acquisition, Vinci has established its presence in India in the Infrastructure sector.

The regional leader in its sector, NAPC is mainly active in the areas of road construction, earthworks and civil engineering, as well as the development of industrial zones and airport platforms. Within the framework of a concession consortium, NAPC is participating in the implementation of the Chennai ring road project, a release from VINCI said. NAPC generated 600 crores revenues in 2011 and presently has Rs 1,850 crore worth orders in hand.

With this acquisition, the Paris-based Eurovia, one of the leading players worldwide in the construction, upkeep and maintenance of road and railway transport infrastructure, is establishing a position in India.

Established in 1949, NAPC, an ISO 9001:2000 certified Civil Engineering Company, has grown consistently over the years and now has independent profit centres at Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa, Orissa and also the Middle East. Today the company handles diverse operations including open cast mining, land development, airfield construction, dam, reservoir and canal building along with its core strengths of earth moving and road building.

Vinci, a French concessions and construction company, employs over 179,000 people and is the largest construction company in the world by revenue. Vinci is listed at Euronext's Paris stock exchange and is a member of the CAC 40 index.

Its head office is in Rueil-Malmaison. Part of Vinci group, Eurovia is a leading transport and urban development infrastructure firm. While continuing to nurture its strong roots in France, 42% of its revenue now comes from its international operations, primarily in Western and Central Europe and in the United States, Canada and Chile.
