NRIs flock MCHI property show in Dubai

DUBAI: The 15th edition of the Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry’s (MCHI) India Realty Expo Dubai has been concluded successfully here producing good response from genuine buyers, according to exhibitors and the organiser.

This is right time for non-resident Indians, or NRIs, to buy properties back home as the current exchange rate of the US dollar to the Indian rupee makes home buying at more discounted rate, they said.

The MCHI provides a safe and secure platform to the Indian expatriates as they explored the vast opportunities available in the Indian real estate industry, especially in Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

“MCHI’s self regulation and transparent manner of functioning was reflected in the confidence levels reposed by NRI visitors to the event. As a result, the event had many serious buyers,” MCHI exhibition committee chairman Bandish Ajmera said.
The three-day show had witnessed 2,832 NRIs visiting various stalls and enquired about the properties and some have even booked on the spot. “The global currency market movements in the recent weeks have made Indian real estate very lucrative for NRIs, and we were hoping that serious buyers would take advantage of the same — and they did,” MCHI co-chairperson Manju Yagnik told Khaleej Times, adding, “We are showcasing the biggest township with quite a number of buildings.”

Yagnik, who is also the vice-chairperson of the Nahar Group, said the company has done quite a few bookings during the show. The event opened with visits by serious buyers, and this was consistent throughout the event period, she added.

The Nahar Group will offer Pune and Chennai properties soon to the NRI community in Dubai first, she said, adding that this will be done even before its launch in India.
“Leading developers have showcased residential and commercial properties, plots and bungalows from across the MMR as also a select few other cities,” MCHI exhibition committee co-chairperson Dipesh Bhagtani said.

Bhagtani, who is also director at Jaysee Homes, said the company is showcasing seven under construction projects and three upcoming projects. “Some projects are at the final stage,” he added.

The event was inaugurated by P Rajgopalan, head of chancery at the Indian Embassy, Abu Dhabi.
