Record visitors at ConBuild Mining Expo 2012

JAKARTA: Over 200 companies in the construction and mining industry have showcased their expertise at the 2012 ConBuild Mining expo which was held from May 2 to 5 at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

The annual exhibition has attracted companies from China, Germany, Japan and South Korea. Other countries present at the exhibition include Belgium, Czech Republic, India, Italy, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan and Turkey.

The exhibition, which was held for the first time last year, has attracted 6,600 visitors, an increase of 20 percent from last year’s attendance figures of 5,500, Ronald Unterburger, Asia Pacific manager of events organizer Messe München, said.

The exhibition was officially opened on Wednesday by Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto, who urged both local and international manufacturers to support the event. “Indonesia needs a sustainable mining and construction industry, international investments and proven good practices are highly in need and most welcomed,” he said. Djoko said that the government currently needed Rp 1,9 trillion (US$2,065,891) to fund infrastructure projects.
