Awarding those who beautify our homes

A home is not just about four walls under a roof but a place for people to live and lead a better life. There are specific places for sofa, fridge, washing machine, bed, dining table, wall paintings, wardrobes, television, etc in a home and without planning for these places, the life will not be smooth for the occupants.

These days more importance is being given to ‘home making’ with architects and interior designers finding prominence in shaping a home. Leading builders are engaging celebrity architects and home decors to do a home and selling it at premium prices.

But, sadly, we seldom remember or recognize those who made the brick-and-wall shelters into abodes or dream homes.

There have been many awards constituted to honour budding and professional architects and interior designers and some of them being CIDC Vishwakarma Awards, Construction Week awards, EPC World awards, CNBC Awaaz awards, NDTV Property awards, etc.

To bring these unsung heroes of construction industry into limelight, Zingy Homes, a leading firm for architects and interior designers, has been organising an online award every year, which would be on the basis of voting.  The event is aimed at popularising professionals who work behind the scenes and create beautiful spaces.

“The interior designers and architects have shaped up lives, have nurtured various lifestyles and have changed the way the community lives. They have created various aesthetic and enigmatic pieces of art using their innovative insights. They have set new trends in the Indian architecture and interior décor market. In short, they are the ones behind the rebellious evolution in home remodeling and renovation in the country. These professionals have strived hard and truly deserve to be known to the general public,” said Hema Ramnani, an interior designer from Chennai.

A panel of popular jury comprises of award winning architects from Australia, New York and Scandinavian countries will judge the competitors. The attraction of the awards is the public voting system being introduced for the first time. According to this, each entry will be ranked as per the number of votes it receives from the general public.

The organisers have kept a few categories under which the participants can apply. These categories are best commercial interior designer, best commercial architect, best residential interior designer and best residential architect. Applications from architectural and interior design firms or individuals can apply in September (date will be announced in their website) to participate in the contest. According to orgnisers, there are no restrictions in the number of submissions as one can submit multiple entries for multiple categories.

The jury panel would review the work on the basis of various parameters like design excellence and suitability to challenge, functionality, creativity and originality, sustainability, problem solving ability, aesthetic appeal and execution and finish quality.

According to industry experts, the event will help entry-level designers and architects to bring into the limelight their talent without spending on expensive advertising or networking. With the public voting feature, the awards event is being billed as a platform that would bring homeowners in direct touch with the participating architects and designers. And for those who are already dominating the interior décor market, these awards would double their chances of being the ‘most demanded designer/architect’ in the country.

Tata Housing luxury project wins NDTV Property Awards

Mumbai: Tata Housing Development Company has won the renowned NDTV Property Awards in the category of ‘Super luxury apartment project of the year' for its premium property Raisina Residency.
Ajay Maken, minister, housing and urban poverty alleviation, honoured Tata Housing as the winner of the Super luxury apartment project of the year, in the first edition of the NDTV Property Awards held on June 3, 2013.

Speaking on the achievement, Brotin Banerjee, managing director and chief executive officer, Tata Housing, said, “At Tata Housing, it is our constant endeavour to create benchmarks and constantly reinvent. With Raisina Residency, we were attempting to cater to a niche segment within the luxury space. Raisina Residency is based on art and culture and is for the consumers who want to live life king-size, those who have known affluence and indulgence.”

“Theme-based housing projects are a major attraction in today’s cluttered markets. The simplicities of condominium living need to go beyond luxury homes. Buyers are no longer impressed by facilities such as club-houses, swimming pools or health clubs. Their lifestyle aspirations now go far beyond,” he added.

Raisina Residency is a premium and exclusive residential complex, located at the Golf Course Road extension and is inspired by the theme of ‘art and culture’. Spread across a sprawling 11.73 acre campus, Raisina Residency has nine aesthetically-designed towers that compliment modern lifestyle and are packed to the hilt with unmatched luxuries. The product mix consists of 3BHK (2,319 sq ft and 2,910 sq ft) and 4BHK (3,375 sq ft and 3,829 sq ft) apartments, duplex and penthouses. The master plan, landscaping and buildings, designed by 'AEDAS' — one of the top five architects globally. It ensures that maximum flats get unhindered views of both the Aravallis and the city landscape.

The project has pre-certified Green Homes under the guidance of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and is designed to provide excellent natural ventilation. Also, Raisina Residency comes with 86 percent open area surrounding the towers.

After in-depth evaluation of each entry, the esteemed jury has finally announced the winners of the first NDTV Property Awards that recognises and applauds excellence in Indian real estate. Participation was invited from architects, developers and service providers.
