The country’s first RFID technology based electronic toll collection
plaza was inaugurated at Chandimandir, Punchkula (Haryana) by Dr. CP
Joshi, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways in the presence of
Union Minister for Culture and HUPA, Kum. Selja, the CMs of Punjab and
Haryana, and other dignitaries.
The plaza is part of the four-laned Zirakpur-Parwanoo section of NH-5 that passes through Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, Joshi said that qualitative infrastructure development similar to this latest project is a must for the growth of the country, and bearing this in mind, the government has made this a focus area in the 11th and forthcoming 12th Five Year Plans.
