Mumbai: BC India 2013, a
construction equipment exhibition to be held in here early next year, is
expected to see nearly 40 per cent rise in the number of exhibitors compared to
its previous edition, according to the organisers of the event.
To be held between February 5 and 8
next year in Mumbai, the biennial exhibition is organised by BC India Expo Pvt
Ltd, a joint venture between global trade fair organiser Messe Munchen
International (MMI) and Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).
Kolkata-headquartered Srei Equipment Finance Pvt Ltd is one of the members of
the advisory board of the exhibition.
“With 508 exhibitors from 10 major
countries, the first edition of our exhibition received an overwhelming
response from the Indian construction equipment industry. For the 2013 edition,
we expect at least 700 exhibitors,” Thomas Loffler, Chief Executive Officer of
BC Expo India said.
In view of the growing prospects in
road construction projects in India, more and more global infrastructure
equipment makers are looking forward to an increase in sales at the exhibition,
Loffler added. The National Highway Authority of India aims to develop 50,000
km of national highways in seven phases by 2015 at an estimated cost of Rs 3
lakh crore.
According to Loffler, about 94 per
cent visitors were from India at the previous exhibition. The second edition of
exhibition will be spread over 1.5 lakh square metres to accommodate more
exhibitors and visitors.
