Dubai has turned to India for inspiration for its latest construction mega-project, a massive replica of the Taj Mahal that's being touted as an over-the-top wedding venue. A five-star hotel is also being planned for the property, to accommodate all those out-of-town guests
The project, which surfaced in the press late last week, could take two
years to construct and cost more than a billion dollars, according to a report.
Called the Taj Arabia, the Dubai version has little in common with the 17th
century mausoleum apart from the facade.
In addition to a wedding venue that holds 3,000 guests, it will feature a 300-room
five-star hotel, six mixed-used themed
buildings with lifestyle apartments, retail, restaurants, cafes and boutique
offices, according to the report.
The Taj Arabia will be located in the Falconcity of Wonders, a real estate
project that will feature replicas of several wonders of the world, and is
being developed by Link Global Ltd, the report further said.
When completed, Dubai's Taj will sit alongside
replicas of the Pyramids, Hanging Gardens, Eiffel Tower, Great Wall of China
and Leaning Tower of Pisa and also will become a symbol of love and destination
for world’s most expensive weddings.
