The company has also drawn out an investment plan involving a phased expansion of its Kunigal factory to address its rapidly growing market. The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Kunigal is involved in the manufacture of Porotherm Perforated Bricks for both in-fill and load bearing masonry.

The launch of Thermo Bricks and DRYFIX System is in keeping with the company's focus on innovative products and realigning itself from being a brick manufacturer to providing comprehensive solutions for the construction industry.

Speaking on the occasion Heimo Scheuch, CEO, Wienerberger AG, said. "India continues to be a strategically important market for Wienerberger AG and our experience in the last few years have shown the tremendous potential of this market.

Referring to the changing product portfolio, Scheuch further added, "I strongly believe that the future success of the company lies in progressing into a more integrated building material company which provides systems and solutions for energy efficient and sustainable construction. This strategy will provide us with right answers to developments and trends of the building material industry"

While the DRYFIX. system replaces the conventional mortar in masonry, thereby saving on scarce resources such as sand and water, the Thermo Bricks are ideal for external walls in India as they provide excellent thermal insulation with a U Value of 0.60W/m2K, the lowest in its class that is available in the country today.
The company which is a market leader in clay-based products globally has so far been offering clay perforated bricks, roof tiles, and facades for the Indian market as clay is best suited as a building material for Indian climatic conditions, offering excellent insulation.

Appaiah Monnanda, Managing Director, Wienerberger India, said, "Beginning of this year saw Wienerberger India launching Koratech range of roofing accessories to cater to the specific Indian market conditions. With the launch of two more revolutionary products relevant to the Indian market, we are moving one step closer to realising our vision to be a comprehensive sustainable solution provider for the construction industry in India."

Wienerberger was founded 1819 in Vienna (Austria) and now it is the World's largest producer of clay (terracotta) building bricks and leader in the clay roof market in Europe. The group also holds leading positions in pavers in Europe. Wienerberger set up India office in 2006 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Wienerberger AG. Headquartered in Bangalore, Wienerberger has commissioned a state of the art manufacturing facility in Kunigal, 70kms from Bangalore, to produce Porotherm Clay Bricks, and Porotherm offers significant technical advantages over other conventional building materials in terms of high strength to weight ration and thermal insulation properties. This walling product provides alternate building options which are environmentally friendly and cost effective.
